It’s hard to receive every pitch perfectly but repeatable movements are key. A good setup, solid practice, and focusing on the right things help with the consistency.
JT Realmuto displays a nice example of receiving the pitch away to a RHH.

Watching some late night college ball on TV and ran across a nice backstop. Footwork and quick release are off the charts for Junior Catcher, Myles Emmerson of Cal Poly out of the Big West Conference. Love this dudes energy as well! *Note- I do not know nor have any affiliation with Emerson but I love the way he plays. @shhmyles
My favorite tee drill because it’s realistic!!! When you hit off 1 tee you know exactly where the ball is going to be. In this drill the hitter doesn’t know which ball he’s going to hit until after he’s finished his load. Key to this drill is not to commit your swing until you recognize the pitch (hear me say in or out.) I am not saying that I don’t only use 1 tee with my players because I do. If you are using 1 tee then that should be to work on something specific like hitting a certain pitch location or mechanics. This drill makes the tee closer to a game like situation. #baseball#hitting#ncaa#collegebaseball#catchers#collegecatchers
